Hawks Swim And Run To Wins
Newtown High Schoolâs girlsâ swimming and diving and girlsâ cross country teams both earned season-opening wins on Tuesday.
The cross country team defeated host Bethel 26-31, New Fairfield 26-29, and Kolbe Cathedral of Bridgeport 15-50 for a quick 3-0 start to the campaign.
Newtownâs fastest runner was the fourth overall finisher as Hannah Schwartz completed the course in a time of 21:43. Brianne Moulder was sixth in 22:20, Reagan Cerney placed seventh in 22:32. Talia Fippiano was tenth in 23:40, and Sarah Craig came in 12th in 23:41.
In the pool, the Nighthawks got the season started with a 100-75 win over New Fairfield. Results are as follows:
