WOODBURY â A special screening of Dirt! The Movie, which that tells the story of Earthâs most valuable and underappreciated source of fertility, will be offered on Friday, September 21, at 7 pm, at The Studio at Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust, 5 Church Hill Road.
Narrated by Jamie Lee Curtis, the movie brings to life the environmental, economic, social, and political impact that the soil has. It shares the stories of experts from all over the world who study and are able to harness the beauty and power of a respectful and mutually beneficial relationship with the soil.
According to the movieâs website (DirtTheMovie.org): Dirt! The Movie is a call to action, noting, âThe only remedy for disconnecting people from the natural world is connecting them to it again.â
Among those responsible for the film are Bill Benenson, director/producer. A champion of global welfare, Mr Benenson has more than 30 years of producing and directing experience, including documentaries The Marginal Way and Diamond Rivers, as well as the critically acclaimed narrative Mister Johnson.
Director and producer Gene Rosow wrote, produced, and directed more than 20 documentaries, including Doctora for Channel 4 England, Routes of Rhythm for PBS, and Knights for Canal+, France. His feature film credits include the family film Zeus and Roxanne for MGM.
Laurie Benenson, executive producer, is a writer, editor, and journalist who founded Movieline magazine in 1985 and continues to write about film and television for The New York Times Sunday Arts and Leisure section.
Cost for the screening is $5 per person ($4 for Flandersâ members)
