Farewell To A

Beloved Companion

To the Editor:

Anyone who has been “adopted” by an animal knows that the medical care the pet receives is of utmost importance.

On September 27, we said goodbye to our beloved cat, Ally. She was named after the title role in the TV show, Ally McBeal played by Calista Flockhart. Just like the TV character, our Ally was a truly loving, gentle, exuberant, funny, and extremely klutzy little being.

It’s always traumatic and overwhelmingly sad to bid farewell to a very loved companion. However, knowing that a pet has received the best possible care is a huge comfort.

We cannot say enough words of praise and gratitude to the staff of NVS (Newtown Veterinary Specialists). The staff includes the highest caliber veterinarians focused on emergency care, internal medicine, oncology etc.

As pet owners, we were given all the pros and cons of treatment options, appointments were easily made, phone calls returned promptly, and e-mails detailing treatment, meds, etc, were sent to us after each visit.

More importantly, the staff of NVS really, truly care for animals and their adoptive “parents.” It genuinely shows in everything they do.

We thank them for their humanity and thank Ally for 16 beautiful years.
