Newtownâs Zoe Beals helped lead the Connecticut Seahawks 12U softball team to the 5th Annual Donna Festa Memorial Fastpitch Softball Tournament in Monroe during Labor Day Weekend.
After going 1-2 on Saturday, the Seahawks were seeded fourth, and rallied and won all three games on Sunday.
In the first game on Sunday, Beals pitched a great game and struck out nine batters in the close 5-4 win against the Fairfield Fury 12U team.
In the semifinal game, against the top-seeded Fairfield Fury 13U squad, Beals went 3-for-3 at the plate, including a double that drove in two runs. The team pulled out a 9-7 win.
The Seahawks moved onto the championship game against the Trumbull Rampage. Beals ripped two hits, including a two-run homer to deep center and a two-run line drive down the left field line to help the Seahawks win the game 8-5.
The Seahawks head to New Windsor, NY in October, to battle in their next tournament.
