Andrew Waud McCullough

Andrew Waud McCullough, 73, of Newtown, died September 9, in Bethel Healthcare, after a long illness. Born in London, England, December 28, 1938, to Ruth (Tattersall) and Trevor McCullough, he was raised in Brynmawr, Wales, attended local schools there, and graduated from Imperial College, London, with degrees in physics.

Mr McCullough immigrated to the United States in 1968 and enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in the semiconductor industry. He was the holder of many scientific patents.

He loved to play bridge, chess, and golf. He also enjoyed gardening and nature at his longtime home in Newtown.

His wife of 49 years, Wendy (James) McCullough; two daughters, Justine Higgins. and her husband Robert, of Nashua, N.H., and Louise McCullough, and her husband John Couture, of Avon; five grandchildren; a sister Lynn (McCullough) Downey of Brynmawr, Wales; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins survive Mr McCullough.

There are no calling hours and the service is private.

Donations may be made in Mr McCullough’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.

The Honan Funeral Home of Newtown assisted the family.
