A Public Official Who Cares
A Public Official Who Cares
To the Editor:
I have been a Newtown resident for 40-plus years and I would like at this time to thank First Selectman Pat Llodra for her response to a potentially dangerous road condition. The problem in question involved a stretch of road on Hanover Road, just south of Interstate 84.
The particular stretch of road was much narrower and raised higher than most other roads. The drastic weather conditions we have experienced caused many of its guard posts and attached wire to lean backwards. The resultant danger was that any vehicle forced to leave the roadway would have fallen down the steep inclines.
I contacted Pat Llodra and made her aware of the situation. She took direct action by personally visiting the area. It was gratifying to see the effort that she expended in order to correct the situation. Despite budget restrictions caused by adverse weather events and reduced budgets, she persisted until this year the problem area was reconstructed and made safe.
Looking at the sad excuses we have for leadership on the federal and state levels, it is refreshing to have a public official who really cares and produces.
Thank you,
Gerald J. Finnegan
