Womenâs Cancer Prevention Focus Of Discovery Series
FARMINGTON â What steps can women take to prevent breast cancer and other cancers? Is family history a major risk factor for womenâs cancers? Who should consider genetic counseling or testing? Where can women find resources and support?
These questions and more will be answered on Tuesday, September 25, at the University of Connecticut Health Center when the Discovery Series presents, âThe Power of Prevention.â The program will begin at 7 pm in the Health Centerâs Keller Auditorium. Registration is required - call 800-535-6232.
Speakers will include Molly Brewer, DVM, MD, MS, director of the Health Centerâs Division of Gynecologic Oncology, as well as genetic counselors Robin Schwartz, MS, and Jennifer Stroop, MS, who are working with Dr Brewer in the new Womenâs Cancer Prevention Program. Robert Greenstein, MD, director of the Division of Human Genetics, will serve as moderator.
âInformation can be power. Our goal is to help women understand their risk of cancer, or recurrence of cancer, and help them create meaningful cancer prevention strategies,â Dr Brewer explained.
