Girls U13
Wilton 4, Flash 1 â Lindsay Jossick scored the lone goal off an assist from Stephanie Roman in a loss to Wilton. Abby Blakeman showed a gutsy head-on style, Katie Shirley and rookie member Emily Brisson took on the goalkeeping challenges, and defenders Jenna Hindes and Julia Trudell worked unrelentingly at their posts.
Boys U13
Shelton 4, Cobras 0 - Despite several exciting shots on goal, Newtown did not score in the first match against U13/U14 Shelton in the annual Sao Paio Naugatuck Labor Day Tournament. Matt Rahtelli and Devin DiNicola kept the game close defensively. Pieter Martino and Ricky Fuentes played well in the midfield.
Bridgeport 3, Cobras 1 â Richard Greenwood had several shots on goal with Ian Solaski netting the lone Cobra goal off an assist from Drew Sullivan. Noah Sock, Robert Willis and Peter Kerns created tremendous defensive pressure during the first half with keeper Sean Elliott making several great saves in goal.
Cobras 2, Naugatuck 1 â The Cobras earned third place in the Sao Paio Tournament as Kieran Lardner and Drew Sullivan both scored. Stephan Conway had an assist. Patrick Riccardi, Alec Lockhart and Colin Moller were solid in the midfield while defender Noah Sock made several tough tackles.
Cobras 0, Bridgeport 0 â The Cobras opened league play with an impressive opening match against rival Bridgeport. The boys played extremely well on the defensive end, led by sweeper Matt Rahtelli and stopper Peter Kerns. Keepers Drew Sullivan and Robert Willis combined for 14 saves. Stephen Conway, Pieter Martino and Noah Sock played well in the midfield.
Boys U12
Beasts 3, Westport 0 â Matt Mossbarger scored two goals and Jonah Muniz added one to lead the Beasts to the win. Stefan Dullinger assisted on two goals while Muniz and Grant Ricketts each contributed an assist to lead the offense. Jordan Sock, Robert Linden and Andrew Martinez had a strong game. Owen Gaston and Austin Raftery were excellent in goal.
Girls U11
Darien 3, Lightning 1 â In their season opener, the Lightning fell to a well-organized Darien team. Sarah Lynch scored the lone goal. Dale Shearin and Amy Martinelli handled the nets and Shelby Tolla and Emily Riley both had good games.
Boys U11
Monroe 6, White Lightning 1 â Luca Imbimbo scored the lone Newtown goal in a loss to Monroe. Kevin Ovendorf made over 15 saves in goal, many spectacular, as Kaj Djonne and Knute Johnson played tough on defense trying to set up many plays. Michael Cook and Jeremy Doski played aggressive in the midfield with many steals.

Girls U14
Smiters 3, No Names 1 â Katelyn Dandrea scored twice and Claire Bernson added one for insurance to secure the win for the Smiters in the season opener. Quincy de Young and Rachel Karnoff played great in goal, and Jessica Lynch and Amanda Stanton had great all around games. For the No Names, Emily Lones and Maria Biondi played well in goalie. Colleen Cosgrove played well in her first-ever soccer game. Ali Blume and Emily Grimes both had excellent games at forward.
Boys U14
Boots 2, Vipers 0 â In a closely contested match, Boots notched the victory on goals by Stephen Jarvis and Rob Uhde, who also had a strong game on defense. Jake Tolson and Chris Arnone played great in goal to achieve the shut out. For the Vipers, Josh Branchflower played a strong all around game at midfield while Alec Beauchemin played a great game at defense. Mac Morlock and Luke Shearin both played well in goal and applied offensive pressure to create a number of scoring opportunities.
ZOX 5, Strykerz 1 â Colin Cooper scored three goals while Nick Snyder and Miles Dubbrow added one apiece to lead the ZOX to the win. Justin Germak anchored the D. For the Strykerz, Tyler Hanna scored the goal. Ben Galassi was solid in goal while Nick Klein and Nick Shannon had nice all-around games.
AT&T 4, Team (#5) 3 â Gavin Scallon scored three goals and Michael Senf added one to lead AT&T to the win. Goalie Justin Adsitt-Weiner and defender Will Carr had great games. For Team #5, Dieter Gutbrod scored two goals and Garrison Buzzanca added a solo. Tommy Ermis played well in midfield and Jonah McKeown played well defensively.
Girls U10
Team (#7) 5, Blazing Monkeys 2 â Meghan Grimes scored four goals and Sierra Mather added one to lead Team #7 to the win. Annie Hoffman was outstanding on offense and Hannah Delia and Clare Boyle were excellent in goal. For the Monkeys, Faith Pereira and Emma Lardner scored the goals with assists from Kate Laaksonen Brianna Alves. Megan Weber was excellent in goal.
Torpedoes 4, Team (#5) 3 â Molly Begg, Anna Pinckney, Amanda Mele and Kayla DiSibio all scored to lead the Torpedoes to the win. Marina Renzi had a great assist on the DiSibio goal. For Team #5, Megan Milano, Maddie Strokis and Emily Turco all scored with strong overall play by Emma Horne and Hannah Bellagamba.
Super Shooters 5, Team (#8) 2 â Caitlin Filiato scored three goals as Geralyn Klein and Tonya Tucker each scored a goal to lead the Shooters. Kirsten Yapp played a strong game on defense and Stephanie Devaney played well supporting the offense. For Team #8, Kat Jennings scored both goals as Denise Kuban had a strong performance as goalkeeper. Brittney Antous and Lucy Helgren anchored the attack.
Rockets 5, Funky Monkeys 1 â Hannah Booth and Nicole Russo powered the offense and led the Rockets to the win. Brianna Baranowski played great in goal and solid defensive performances were turned in by Claire Beiter and Lauren Wilcox. For the Monkeys, Lauren Beier scored the goal as Stephanie Carr and Victoria Kirkman played well.
Boys U10
Team (#7) 4, Team (#4) 0 â Kieran Lynch, Carter Nordman, Tim VanderHave and Zach Weiland each scored goals to lead Team #7. Forrest Weatherby stopped nearly all attacks on goal. For Team #4, Christopher Horkachuck and Forest Speed worked well together in the midfield as Owen Samson paced the offense and Nathan Augenbraun was solid on D.
Stags 3, Tigers 2 â Liam Nichols scored two goals and Dylan Lew added one to lift the Stags to the win. Curtis Giles played well. For the Tigers, Patrick Berger scored both goals while Christopher Blanco and Kevin Finnegan had nice performances.
The Oskars 6, Strikers 3 â Spencer Tolson and Albert Dean scored two goals apiece to lift The Oskars to the win. Nathaniel Dowd and Travis Hanna also scored. Robert Katrinak, Richard Ciamarra and Greg Thiele scored for the Strikers while Alec Hersh played a great overall game.
Boys U8
Great Whites 3, Bulldogs 2 â Thomas Leuci scored twice and Alex Hess once to lead the Great Whites to a come-from-behind win. Hagi Hagischi and Luke Melillo had great games. For the âDogs, Evan Eggleston found the back of the net twice and almost had a third that went just wide. Owen Ryan, Shane Gattey and Matthew Krasnickas had solid games.
Girls U8
Mustangs 5, Skunks 0 â Olivia Caplan, Nevan Gattey, Sarah MacMullan and Amanda Wikramanayake all scored to lead the Mustangs to the win. For the Skunks, Colleen McCarthy and Diana Kirkman were strong in goal as Haley Harkins and Caroline Condon were aggressive on defense.
Fighting Irish 2, Wolverines 0 â Megan Kelleher scored two goals, one off a nifty assist from Caroline Caporale, to lead the Fighting Irish to the win. Annalise Saraceni played outstanding in the goal as Jillian Pieretti and Megan Goyda had strong performances. For the Wolverines, Olivia Bellagamba was excellent on right defense along with Caroline Viselli on left defense. Maggie Beardsley played excellent as right midfielder and Jessica Maturo as striker.
