Offers Fall Schedule

DANBURY — Richter Association for the Arts will present a number of public programs in the Danbury area this fall. Unless noted, admission to each event is free of charge.

Programs begin this weekend, with a performance by The Berkshire Big Band on Sunday, September 16, at 3 pm. The concert will be outdoors at Richter House, 100 Aunt Hack Road. In the event of inclement weather the concert will move to Elmwood Hall Senior Center, 10 Elmwood Place.

Under the direction of Chip Zellner, the band will entertain with unique renditions of popular music.

The following weekend, antiques appraiser Wayne Mattox will be at Richter House for an Antiques Road Show­-style event. On Sunday, September 23, from 3 to 5 pm, Mr Mattox will appraise two items for each visitor, free of charge, as time permits.

The Richter Art Association Annual Juried Art Show will return the week of Saturday, September 29, through Sunday, October 7. Entry forms are being mailed to current members and previous entrants; forms can also be obtained at several locations throughout the area.

The show will include oils, acrylics, watercolors, mixed media, drawings, graphics and pastel works. Receiving will be Wednesday, September 25, between 3 and 7 pm, at Richter House.

The opening reception will be Saturday, September 29, from 2 to 5 pm, with an awards reception planned for 3 pm.

The show will then be open Sundays only, September 30 and October 7, from 2 to 5 pm.

Next month, the arts association will host an show of artworks by Jim Jeffrey and John Flamey. The public can view the art on Saturday, October 14, from 2 to 3 pm; Saturday, October 20, from 2 to 5 pm; and Sunday, October 21, 2 to 5 pm.

Music and magic will be the center of attention on Sunday, October 14, when Hank Milligan returns to Richter House with his show, “This Music Will Be Magical and The Magic Will Amaze You.” Showtime is 3 pm.

The following weekend, guitarist and vocalist Scott Samuels will headline a show. Mr Samuels will return from New York City with his vast repertoire of popular songs on Sunday, October 21, at 3 pm.

Richter Arts Association is planning a crafts show and sale for the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, November 3-4. Details are still being arranged; call for additional information.

Finally on Sunday, November 4, musician Billy Michael will be joined by young area performers for a presentation of “All That Jazz” at 3 pm.
