PAC Dancers Are Doing For Others

Dancers Responding to AIDS (DRA) and Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS of New York City have invited members of The Performing Arts Center (PAC) Connecticut in Trumbull, under the director of Executive Director Catherine LaChioma, and Farmington Dance, under the direction of Executive Director Kym Nash, to head up their Connecticut DRA program “CT Dancers For Good.”

On Saturday, September 29, at the Theater of Performing Arts in Hartford, 14 Connecticut dance studios will come together, along with guest artists from Broadway and the world of professional dance, to host a benefit concert to raise money and awareness for DRA. The money that is raised will come back to Connecticut fourfold, and will be given to AIDS and family service organizations in addition to The Al Hirschfeld Free Health Clinic, and The Phyllis Newman Women’s Health Initiative, among others.

PAC Connecticut’s dance company, called In Motion and made up of students ages 8 to 22 from Bridgeport, Fairfield, Trumbull, Easton, Milford, Stratford, Shelton, Monroe, Newtown (Abi Malin, Mia Malin, Christina Zuccarello), Norwalk, Orange and Redding, have raised over $10,000 in the past ten months. They have danced at Aaron Davis Hall at City College, SUNY Purchase and most recently in Times Square in the company of 26 notable professional companies at Solstice in Times Square: Dancers at the Crossroads.

The public is invited to join In Motion for its performance in September. All donations and tickets are 100 percent tax deductible.
