Our Choice For Newtown
Our Choice For Newtown
To the Editor:
Thank you, Republican Town Committee, for selecting two fine gentlemen, Joseph E. Borst and Paul J. Mangiafico, for first selectman and selectman. We have known both these men of outstanding personal character, high morals, and exceptional business and management leadership for many years. Both men have demonstrated servant hearts for the people of Newtown.
Joe has been serving all of us for more than 34 years through his involvement in Legislative Council, Board of Selectmen, Public Building Committee, Planning & Zoning Commission, St Rose Catholic Church, and Republican Town Committee. He is more than qualified to lead us in the coming years.
Paul will accomplish for the people of Newtown what is needed to remain a quality place to live. He has shown his care and devotion with dedication to the Board of Education for the last four years. His expertise as a former vice president and executive vice present for several major corporations, along with his tireless energy and no-nonsense and fiscally conservative orientation, make him so very valuable at a time when taxes and spending seem difficult to control.
Both men represent family values and wisdom to lead. Joe has been married 53 years to Barbara. They raised five children in Newtown and have ten grandchildren, two of whom still call Newtown home. Paul and Maxine, who recently celebrated 46 years of marriage, have three grown children and six grandchildren, with three living in Newtown.
