International Wildlife Preservationist Will Present Deer Management Strategies

RIDGEFIELD — Anthony Marr, founder of Heal Our Planet Earth (HOPE) , will give a free presentation on suburban deer management, 7 pm, Thursday, September 27, in the Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street. Mr Marr is the leader of the 25-states-in-4-months Compassion for Animals Road Expedition #5, (CARE-5) Deer Tour.

“Other than the cruelty aspect, culling is a self-perpetuating industry,” says Mr Marr. “Once it is adopted as a deer management measure, it will have to be repeated every year or two, due to the compensatory rebound effect by which the population could reestablish itself to former levels within one to three years,” said Mr Marr.

Mr Marr will present the new Non-Violent Integrated Human-Deer Co-existence Strategy based on all categories of nonlethal methods, including the newest one-dose-multiyear immunocontraception technologies due for general certification by the EPA as early as 2008.
