Eugene J. Donahue

Former Newtown Resident

Eugene J. Donahue, 67, of Monroe and formerly of Newtown, died unexpectedly on September 6 in Danbury Hospital after being stricken ill while driving. Mr Donahue was the husband of Gayle (Medders) Donahue.

Mr Donahue was born in Pittsburgh, Penn., on April 26, 1940, a son of Owen and Elizabeth (Davis) Donahue. He was a graduate of the University of California at Berkley with degrees in mathematics and engineering. Mr Donahue served in the US Army from 1955 to 1963.

He was a resident of Newtown for nine years and had only recently moved to Monroe. He was employed as a real estate agent for Century 21 and was a board member of Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fairfield County.

In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include two daughters, Kate Donahue of Queens, N.Y., and Margaret Donahue of Rochester, N.Y.; and two sisters, Mary Ann Meloy of Fox Chapel, Penn., and Betsy Farmer of Chicago.

A memorial gathering was held September 11 at My Place Restaurant in Newtown. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

Honan Funeral Home of Newtown assisted the family.
