Dorothy M. Sweet

Loving Mother

Dorothy M. (Gillotte) Sweet, 91, of Park Avenue, Danbury, wife of the late Bruce T. Sweet, died at her home on September 11. A lifetime member of the Danbury community, she was born on December 4, 1915, daughter of Anthony and Kathryn (Straiton) Gillotte.

She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Carol Mason and her husband, Chip, of Newtown and Patricia Barrett and her husband, Ron, of Danbury; her son, Allyn Sweet and his wife, Ethel, of Danbury; and her four grandchildren, Kristi Sweet, Michael Barrett, and Ian and Connor Mason. A sister, Evelyn Fancher of Danbury; several nieces and nephews; and her caregivers, Sue and Dwight Williams, and Rebecca Valladares also survive her.

She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Amy Sweet; and a sister, Kathryn Pastorok.

Mrs Sweet worked as a clerk for the Superior Court in Danbury for 15 years. She enjoyed reading and sitting on her porch. A parishioner of St Peter Church, she was a loving mother who dedicated her life to her family and her home. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 15, at 9 am, at St Peter Church, 104 Main Street, Danbury. Burial in St Peter Cemetery will follow. 

The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Saturday morning between the hours of 8 and 8:30.
