Boys' Golf Team Competes
Newtown High School's boys' golf team posted a 160-188 win over visiting Bethel, at Rock Ridge Country Club, on September 10. Jack Wishneski carded a 38 to lead Newtown and was followed by Will Lokey with a 39, Andrew Goldsmith with a 41, Matt Pontore registering a 42, and Tanner Smith with a 45.
The Nighthawks had back-to-back matches September 4 and 5, hosting Immaculate of Danbury then visiting Masuk of Monroe at Whitney Farms Golf Course. In the Immaculate match, the Hawks fell 158-171. Wishneski recorded a score of 39, Lokey 40, Quinn Koll 43, Goldsmith 49, and Andrew Stinson 51.
Against Masuk the Panthers prevailed on a fifth score tiebreaker. The match was even at 169 apiece (the score was 45-51 in the tiebreaker). Lokey carded a 37, Pontore a 42, Josh Miller and Wishneski each had a 45, and Kull a 51 for the Hawks.
In a September 9 visit to New Milford at Candlewood Valley Country Club, the Green Wave won another tightly-contested match, 159-167. Lokey had an even par score of 35 and Wisneski shot a 37 to lead the Hawks. Pontore recorded a 44, Jamie Piccuillo 48, and Kull 51.
