Kathleen (Raslavsky) Hardy, 74, of Sandy Hook, Conn., passed away peacefully in her home on August 30, 2023, and is now in the arms of her Savior.

Kathy was born on November 25, 1948, to John and Regina (Chanda) Raslavsky of Stratford, Conn., the middle of their three children.

She graduated from Stratford High School in 1966 and received her bachelor’s in education from Southern Connecticut State College in 1970.

Kathy was a math teacher at Stratford High School, stopping to raise her three children. When asked where she worked, she often replied, “I work very hard, my job is at home with my family!” She loved her children more than anything and gave everything she had to raise them. The Hardy house was always filled with kids, and it was not uncommon for her to make dinner for ten boys all at once. She spent countless years supporting her kids in anything they did. Once her children were grown, she returned to school, attending Stamford Hospital’s School for Radiologic Science (1997), and worked as an X-ray and MRI technologist for fifteen years, retiring in 2012.

Nothing was more important to her than her seven grandchildren. She loved them fiercely and never said no to them. She was their “Mema” and spent countless hours baking, sewing, taking them to movies, watching recitals, and even running a 5K. No matter what they asked, she did it.

She will be remembered for her kindness, joy, courage, and faith. She loved traveling with her family, spending time with friends, cooking, gardening, and attending her grandkids’ sporting events. She always had tremendous positivity and strength and was a joyful presence in everyone’s lives.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Robert Hardy; her children Robert (Lisa) Hardy of Monroe, Conn., Russell Hardy of Woodbury, Conn., and Tara (Daniel) Johnson of Newtown, Conn.; her seven grandchildren Stephen, Michael, William, Brandon, Julia, Ella, and Brody; and her sister Joanne Siergiej of Danbury, Conn. She was predeceased by her parents and her beloved brother John.

Friends and family are invited to a remembrance service at 12 pm on September 23rd, at St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown followed by a celebration of her life at The Villa Restaurant in Sandy Hook.
