The September meeting of the Genealogy Club of Newtown will be Wednesday, September 14, at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

Meetings start promptly at 7, but those planning to attend are invited to arrive early to converse with other genealogists, and enjoy some light refreshments.

This month's speaker will be Marian Wood, who will offer a presentation on "Planning a Future For Your Family's Past."

Guests will learn how to prepare to pass their genealogy research and family collectibles on to the next generation and beyond. Ms Wood will talk about how create an inventory and index materials so that it will be easier to decide at a later time what to pass on and what to donate. She will also discuss setting up a genealogical will to protect research.

In addition, Ms Wood will give ideas for encouraging interest in family history and family lore to the next generation.

In addition to monthly meetings, longtime member and professional genealogist Harlan Jessup is available on Monday afternoons between 2 and 4 pm for help with research. A dedicated computer in the library's Genealogy Room is available during library hours, to access Ancestry.com and other research sites.

For additional information about the April 13 meeting/program or the club in general, contact Mr Jessup at 203-426-3981 or Bea Morgan at 203-304-1861.
