A Book Sale Beyond Expectations

Book Sale A Huge Success

To the Editor:

What can I say! The 25th Annual Friends of the C.H. Booth Library Book Sale was an extraordinarily phenomenal success. We far exceeded all our expectations. Wow! When I began the book sale 25 years ago, I had no idea that in the year 2000 it would gross over $82,000 and involve over 100 volunteers. It has grown to be one of the premiere book sales in the region and we can all be proud of that.

The success of the book sale can be solely attributed to the many, many wonderful volunteers who give of their time and effort each and every year on behalf of the library. The dedication shown by these volunteers is truly a testament to the value Newtown residents have for their library, and for that I thank you so very much.

Thank you to everyone who donated books for our sale, your generosity is overwhelming and we thank you very, very much. Thank you to Stop & Shop, Rand Whitney, Curtis Packaging, Pepsico, and the Congregational Church for donating goods/services for our annual book sale. We appreciate your support. And an extra special thank you to The Bee for the wonderful coverage you provided for this event.

We all look forward to the many new and exciting items and services the Library will be able to purchase with the funds from this year’s sale.

We look forward to seeing you at Book Sale 2001!
