Board Approves Superintendentâs Recommendations

The Newtown School Board approved five recommendations by Superintendent of Schools John Reed at their meeting Tuesday evening at the district office.
The board unanimously approved the following curricula: Integrated Math I, Computer Repair II and III, Graphic Arts Industries I and II, Video Productions I, II, and III, Social Studies, Grade 3, and Conflict Resolution â Kindergarten.
Two text books, Poetry, An Introduction by Michael Meyer and The Immoralist by Andre Gide were approved.
The board also gave its approval for two gifts that were received. They include 1,000 sheets of black posterboard from an anonymous donor and a pulmonaide machine for the treatment of asthmatic children from the Tanner family for use in Newtown Middle School.
The renovation project at Head Oâ Meadow School was accepted as complete by the board Tuesday.
Several volunteer coaches for Newtown High School sports teams were also approved. They are Angela Giaquinto and George Kostelis, girls soccer; Roseanne OâNeill, volleyball; Tony Branca and Brad Piccirillo, football; and Al Taubert, boys soccer.
Board Chairman Elaine McClure thanked all the people who volunteered to help with sports.
