A Sincere Endorsement
To the Editor:
If you’ve read previous endorsements for Rebekah Harriman-Stites, you will know she is a grass-roots activist, a small business owner, and a tireless supporter of education. You should also know that she listens to community input and works tirelessly to improve Newtown.
Rebekah is an energized team member and a skillful leader. I’ve had the chance to see Rebekah’s work up close and found that she sees the talents of others and assembles a team accordingly.
One of the most difficult jobs for a Board of Education is the choice of superintendent. I have been involved in this several times, and the dynamics of the decision-making among diverse opinions are complicated. In any group, you will have multiple points of view and deadlines that may work against each other. When I was chair of the Board of Education, Rebekah was my top choice to lead the superintendent selection committee because I knew she would be able to balance the time commitment with ensuring everyone’s voice was heard. Rebekah’s ability to keep the committee focused on results drove an excellent process, ensuring Newtown a superintendent we can be proud of.
I sincerely endorse Rebekah Harriman-Stites for Connecticut State Representative for the 106th district and encourage you to vote for her as well.
My comments are my own and not on behalf of the Board of Finance, of which I am a member.
