The LOF Adaptive Skiers and Newtown Parks & Recreation Department invite Newtown children ages 7-18 to participate in Ski Newtown on Saturday, September 19, at Eichler’s Cove Marina. The marina is at the end of Old Bridge Road, on Lake Zoar.

The event will run from 9 am to 3:30 pm.

Ski Newtown is designed to teach beginners how to waterski or wakeboard, and help intermediate skiers/boarders advance to the next level.

“This is our second year hosting Ski Newtown in partnership with Newtown Parks & Recreation and it’s a great event” said LOF Adaptive Skiers’ Executive Director Joel Zeisler.

Cost is $25, and registration is required. The event is for Newtown children ages 7-18 (able bodied and disabled). To register, visit LOFAdaptiveSkiers.org.

Rain date is September 20.

For the last 22 years, LOF Adaptive Skiers has been breaking down barriers for people with disabilities to participate in outdoor sports and recreation activities. Located on Lake Zoar in Sandy Hook, LOF Adaptive Skiers is a nonprofit organization serving 600 children, adults, and veterans with disabilities annually.

Its adaptive water and snow ski programs provide challenging and meaningful outdoor activities that build physical fitness, greater independence, confidence, and lasting friendships.

LOF Adaptive Skiers runs one of the largest and safest adaptive water sports programs in the country. In addition to waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing and kayaking, LOF Adaptive Skiers offers beginner level snow ski and snowboard instruction during the winter months.
