Parent Connection

Parent Connection is a grassroots organization dedicated to raising awareness concerning substance abuse. The year kicks off with “Dare to Discuss Drugs,” a presentation by John Hamilton, Wednesday, September 24, 7 to 9 pm, Newtown Middle School auditorium. Mr Hamilton, a nationally accredited substance abuse expert, will discuss the current trends in usage among young people and things of which parents need to be aware.

 

Hope Support Group

Support group for parents of children involved with substance abuse. The group meets from 7:30 to 9:30 pm, Mondays, in the Parents’ Corner. All are welcome!

Moms’ Support Groups Forming Now!

Groups run for 10 weeks by professional staff. Each week a different topic will be discussed. All groups meet in the Parents’ Corner of NYS. There is a $20 registration fee. (The fee will be waived for whomever this causes a hardship). Please call NYS at 270-4335 to sign up and we will send you a registration form.

Birth To One Year

Tuesdays, 10:30 to 11:30 am (please note change in time) beginning September 16

Moms of Babies

12 To 18 Months

Thursdays, 10:30 to 11:30 am (please note change in time) beginning September 18

Working Moms Group

Second Saturday of the month, 10 to 11 am, September 13 and October 11

Moms of Multiples

Meets Bi-Monthly, call for dates and times.

4-H Garden Hours

Please call for new hours.

Job Bank

Are you 13 or older? Looking for a summer job or a part-time position to carry you through the school year? The Newtown Youth Services Job Bank is open to you! Newtown residents call NYS looking for a person to fill a particular job. Our Job Bank coordinator checks their files and matches a student with a patron. All you need to do is fill out an application form, which is available at NYS or we can mail one to you and you are on your way to employment.

All programs will take place at Newtown Youth Services, 41-A Main Street, unless otherwise noted. To register or for further information, call 270-4335.
