Route 302 Deer

Motorist Frank Gillotti, 34, of Southbury was driving a 1993 Pontiac Bonneville eastward on Route 302 about 7:45 pm September 6, when two deer ran onto the road and collided with the auto, police said. Gillotti was not injured. No enforcement action was taken.

Ford Vs Saturn

Police report a two-vehicle accident on eastbound Church Hill Road, just west of the Exit 10 on-ramp of eastbound Interstate 84, at about 9 pm September 4.

 The collision involved motorist Edmund Sullivan, 62, of 10 Glen Road, who was driving a 1988 Ford Econoline van, and Kristin Small, 21, of Bristol, who was driving a 2001 Saturn sedan, police said. There were no injuries. Police said Sullivan made an improper right turn.

Old Court Case

Newtown police said they learned on September 7 that state police in Westbrook were holding a man for whom Newtown police held an outstanding arrest warrant in connection with a motor vehicle case dating back to 1998.

Newtown police served that arrest warrant against Ryan Murray, 29, of Providence, R.I., charging him with failure to appear in court, plus three motor vehicle violations.

Newtown police released Murray on a $500 bond for a September 23 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

DUI Arrest

Police report that at about 1:30 am September 9, they received a cellular telephone call from a motorist on northbound South Main Street stating that a man was driving a white Oldsmobile erratically there.

Police said they spotted the Oldsmobile on northbound South Main Street near Mile Hill Road and observed its motion, stopping it on Queen Street. Police said they investigated and then charged the Oldsmobile’s driver, Scott Bretton, 41, of Monroe, with driving under the influence and driving with an inoperative tail lamp.

After processing the arrest, police released Bretton on a $50 bond for a September 23 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
