New Book Talk Discussion Series Will Explore Heroes
DANBURY â Danbury Library is gearing up for a new season of monthly book discussion series, which starts in September. From Beowulf to Harry Potter, heroes will be the featured theme of each monthâs selected reading.
Book selections include classics as well as the most current authors, complete with heroes, comic heroes, antiheroes, and heroines of every description. Everyone is welcome to join the free discussions and become a part of the drama the heroes play as they confront real and imagined monsters, get help from unlikely sources, and change their lives with amazing consequences.
The first Book Talk in the new series will discuss Beowulf, as translated by Seamus Heaney, on Monday, September 24 from 6:30 to 8 pm, in the libraryâs Farioly Program Room. The Heaney translation has received great reviews for taking this epic poem and turning it into something modern day readers can understand and enjoy.
Catherine Riordan, who is a member of Friends of the Danbury Library and originated the Book Talk program ten years ago, will return to orchestrate this yearâs discussions. Coffee and snacks are served. No reservations required.
