A Townwide Vigil
For Victims And Families
Â
The Town of Newtown has scheduled a townwide public observance of respect for the victims of this weekâs terrorist attacks and a show of support and compassion for the families of those injured and killed.
In cooperation with local clergy, First Selectman Herb Rosenthal announced this week that townspeople are invited to gather at the football stadium at Newtown High School on Sunday evening, September 16, at 7 pm, for a community service and vigil. Participants are asked to bring a candle.
Mr Rosenthal said Wednesday afternoon, âWe hope that no residents, close family, friends or relatives were harmed during this dastardly attack. Our sympathy and prayers go out to all those who were not so fortunate.â
In consultation with Newtownâs clergy, he said he decided that it would be good for Newtown to gather as a community to express that sympathy and support. All of Newtown is invited.
