Peopleâs Bank Promotes Mendelsohn
BRIDGEPORT â Peopleâs Bank has named Sharon M. Mendelsohn of Newtown as assistant vice president, affordable lending officer, to serve the Danbury region. Ms Mendelsohn will be responsible for managing all of Peopleâs affordable residential lending activities in the Danbury area, including initiating and managing partnerships with local community organizations.
Peopleâs is deploying affordable lending officers in all of the stateâs major cities as part of a strategic effort to reach out to more customers in urban areas and to facilitate the residential mortgage process for low and moderate income customers. The affordable lending officers will offer financing with programs made available through CHFA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Peopleâs own affordable mortgage pool. They also will build community awareness of homeownership opportunities through homebuyer education programs, such as Peopleâs highly regarded Unlocking the Possibilities of Homeownership⢠classes.
âThis expansion of our affordable lending group is a clear demonstration of Peopleâs continued commitment to the communities we serve,â said Waldo Emerson Williams, vice president, residential lending, at Peopleâs. âWe want to unlock the possibilities of homeownership for more people.â
âWe think homeownership, and giving city residents access to the capital they need to purchase a home, is important to maintaining a healthy Connecticut,â Ms Mendelsohn said.
Ms Mendelsohn joined Peopleâs Bank in 1979 and has worked in mortgage originations for 17 years. She belongs to the Northern Fairfield County Association of Realtors and the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce. She is pursuing a degree in Business management at Albertus Magnus College.
She lives in Newtown with her husband Paul. The Mendelsohns have two adult children and three grandchildren.
