Fifth Grade Generosity

To the Editor:

We are writing to commend the generosity of last year’s fifth grade class at Sandy Hook School. These fine children, all on their own, donated a portion of their proceeds from “Pushcart Day” to Caroline’s Gift, a fund aiding Newtown families coping with the double burden of caring for a sick or disabled child and contending with financial need.

The $240 contribution from Sandy Hook’s fifth graders has helped to ensure the existence of Caroline’s Gift as an important charitable resource in our town. Now that everyone is back for the start of school, we wanted to take this occasion to express our thanks.
