McCabe Has Proactive Way Of Thinking
To the Editor:
I’m a mom of grown children and as school openings takes a spotlight in the national political discourse, I think to myself how relieved I am to not have this particular worry right now.
But just because my kids are too old and my grandchild too young to be affected, does not mean I’m not impacted by this crisis. Though they live in other states, I want to believe that other elected officials in their communities are looking out for their safety and welfare just like I want someone in Fairfield making decisions on this issue—someone who has experience and who is invested in the local outcome.
Michelle McCabe is the right person for this moment.
As a mom of school-age children, Michelle McCabe understands the struggle between the safety of opening schools and the danger of missing in-class learning.
As a professional, Michelle has worked on advisory committees with both Fairfield and Sacred Heart Universities. Her focus is on community food equity and on healthy food options for schools as well as on health-care and fair business opportunities.
I will vote for Michelle because she is already looking past this pandemic toward a fundamental plan to keep our schools safe. I’m hoping that because of her proactive way of thinking, when the time comes for my grandchild to go to school, proven protocols will replace crisis management.
Sincerely,
Nancy A. Halpert
