Edmond Town Hall (ETH), at 45 Main Street, continues to add new offerings to its calendar. This weekend in addition to its regular movie screenings — including the return of a free Saturday night screening thanks to Ingersoll Auto of Danbury — the theater will host a viewing party of the first Sunday Night Football game of the 2015-16 NFL season on Sunday, followed by an American Ninja Warrior viewing party on Monday night.

ETH Theatre will be hosting Minions this week. The film, released July 10, features three of the characters introduced in 2010’s Despicable Me. In this animated comedy, Stuart, Kevin, and Bob are recruited by Scarlett Overkill (voiced by Sandra Bullock) when she and her husband Herb (Michael Keaton) hatch a plot to take over the world.

Minions has a 91-minute running time, and is rated PG. Screenings are scheduled Saturday, September 12, through Thursday, September 17. (Visit The Newtown Bee calendar page or click on What’s At Edmond Town Hall under the Features tab for the full schedule.)

The 7 pm screening on Saturday is being offered free of charge, courtesy of Ingersoll Auto of Danbury. The Danbury auto dealership, owned by Todd Ingersoll of Newtown, has been offering at least one free monthly movie night since January 2013.

Regular movie admission is $2.

On Sunday, the theater will host a screening party of the first Sunday Night Football game of the NFL 2015-16 season.

“With school out on Monday, we thought this would be a fun way for families with children of all ages to enjoy the first Sunday Night Football of the season,” said Andy Clure, a member of the ETH Board of Managers.

The game will feature the New York Giants in Dallas’s AT&T Stadium, taking on the Dallas Cowboys. Coverage begins at 8:30 pm.

Then on Monday, the public is invited to an American Ninja Warrior Viewing Party. Freelance meteorologist Joe “The Weatherman” Moravsky, from News 12 Connecticut, is hoping to win this season’s challenge. A three-time American Ninja Warrior finalist, Mr Moravsky is hoping to take the title for the seventh season of the NBC-TV program.

Challengers are competing for a $1 million prize in Las Vegas. In total, 38 athletes advanced to Stage 2; ETH also hosted a Stage 1 viewing party last week.

Mr Moravsky, who lives in Sherman, is planning to be at the town hall on Monday from 7 to 8 pm for a meet-and-greet event. American Ninja Warrior will air from 8 to 11 pm.

A screening of Minions on September 12 will be the first of three free evening events at Edmond Town Hall this weekend.
