NYA Open House, Free Trial Week

NYA Sports & Fitness is hosting a free open house for area residents to provide an opportunity for adults to experience the total wellness program offered by the facility. The open house is scheduled for Monday, September 15, through Sunday, September 21.

The NYA Fitness Center is fully equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, the area’s most extensive personal training staff, group fitness program, and onsite childcare.

Open house guests will benefit from participation in the group fitness classes on the fall schedule including extreme metabolic conditioning, access to the indoor track, and open basketball activities throughout the week.

Guests must be 23 or older, live within 15 minutes of NYA, and must have been a nonmember for more than six months.

In addition to the open house, the fitness center is offering a number of programs including girls’ fitness, preseason high school basketball development, children’s karate, a stroller burn workout for moms, weight loss and nutrition, Moo Duk Kwan, and speed and agility programs for teens.

A number of programs are offered at the fitness center. Among them:

 

Adult Volleyball

Fall Sunday night adult co-ed volleyball continues through December 31 from 7:30 to 9:30, $7 per player.

Lacrosse

Four separate lacrosse programs are offered this fall. First, a high school boys’ clinic starting Wednesday, September 17, and running through October 22 from 7:30 to 9 pm. is open for boys from ninth to twelfth grades. Each 90-minute session will focus on player skill development. Full equipment is required for participation.

A youth lacrosse clinic for boys in fifth through eighth grades is offered Wednesdays starting September 17 and running through October 22 from 6 to 7:30 pm.

Both clinics will be run by Scott Bulkley, head coach of Greenwich High School Lacrosse team, which is the 2014 State Champion team. Registration for both clinics is $135 per player.

A men’s drop-in lacrosse is offered with a free open house on Thursday, September 18. Play continues through December 18 on Thursday nights from 7:30 to 9:30. Drop-in price is $10 per player/night. Goalies play for free.

Lacrosse for boys from K–fourth grade is offered on Tuesdays from September 16 to November 18 from 5:30 to 6 pm. Registration is $149 per child and full equipment is required.

Wallace Basketball Clinic

NBA star and former Syracuse University Player John Wallace lead a five-week clinic on Saturdays starting September 13 through October 18 in two separate time slots for different age brackets. Children in fifth through eighth grades will play from 3 to 4:40 pm and high school students will play from 4:30 to 6 pm. Registration is $90 per player.

START Soccer

The children’s Fall Soccer Skills Clinic, START, is offered at the NYA for eight weeks starting Monday, September 22, until November 10. This clinic is open to all players aged 4-10 years old. Registration is $135 per child.
