Mary T. Gemmola died peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of September 11 at Bethel Health Care at the age of 95. 

She was born Mary Tateo in the Bronx on July 18, 1919, to Clementia and Paul Tateo. She was a longtime resident of the Bronx before moving to Connecticut in 1992.

Mary is survived by her son, Edmund Gemmola, and his wife Carol, and her daughter, Diane Buchanan, and her husband Scott, of Newtown.  She is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Lucio Gemmola.

Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, on Saturday, September 13, from 9 to 10 am, following which a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Mary's Church on Route 302 in Bethel at 10:30 am. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y.
