The Leaps of Faith (LOF) Adaptive Skiers based in Sandy Hook will be hosting its first “Ski Newtown,” a water sports event for Newtown children ages 7–18 on Sunday, September 21, at Eichler’s Cove Marina on Lake Zoar from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. This free event is designed to teach beginners how to waterski or wakeboard and help intermediate skiers/boarders advance to the next level.

“We specialize in helping children, adults, and veterans with disabilities and special needs ‘soar beyond the boundaries’ through adaptive water sports,” said LOF Adaptive’s Executive Director Joel Zeisler. “The Newtown community has been incredibly supportive of our efforts this year so we wanted to host an event that was open to all Newtown families with kids. We hope to have a great turnout.” His thanks go out to Newtown Parks & Recreation Director Amy Mangold for giving LOF permission to use Eichler’s Cove.

Morning waterski and wakeboarding instruction and practice will be followed by an afternoon tournament. Awards will go out to multiple divisions. Ski Newtown is open to able-bodied as well as disabled children ages 7–18. Advance registration is required. Call 203-426-0666 or visit LOFAdaptiveSkiers.org
