The Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard will host its annual open house on Sunday, September 29, from 10 am to 2 pm, at the State Military Reservation located at 4 Wildlife Drive in Newtown.

The day will feature the Second Horse demonstrating cavalry mounted drill and performing in the Musical Ride Salute. The public will have an opportunity to see the historic troop in action and meet the troopers and horses of one of the last remaining, still active, mounted cavalry units in the nation.

There will be food, games, activities for children, and “pony rides” on 2GHG Mounts. Guests will be able to try on uniform items, see historical displays, and find out what is like to serve as a modern cavalry trooper.
