Staudingers Reach A

Major Marriage Milestone

Joyce (Carey) and Robert Staudinger of Newtown will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this weekend.

Joyce and Robert were married on September 12, 1959, at St Rose Church in Newtown. Joan (Hull) Haag served as maid of honor, and Phyllis MacPherson, Joan (Stevens) Cullen, Barbara Main and Donna Hull were the bridesmaids. Donna MacPherson was the flower girl.

Fred Ferris was best man, and Norman MacPherson, Guy Cullen, Dennis Salzer, and John Anderson were the ushers. Joseph Lattin served as the ring bearer.

The Staudingers have been lifelong residents of Newtown. Robert retired from National Can in Danbury following a career as a line maintainer. Joyce retired from the State of Connecticut after having worked as a clerk at Fairfield Hills Hospital.

For many years the couple operated a dairy farm, Lazy Acres, also in Newtown. They continue to work there each summer, baling hay.

A celebratory dinner will be held later this month after Joyce and Robert return from Niagara Falls, where they honeymooned 50 years ago. The dinner will be hosted by the couple’s daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and John Ferris of Newtown and Terri and Mark Mancusi of Brookfield.

The couple was predeceased by a son, Robert Staudinger.

They also have three grandchildren, Kristal and Ashley Ferris and Mark Mancusi Jr.
