Seeking Meaningful Solutions
Seeking Meaningful Solutions
To the Editor:
My name is Chris LaRocque, and I am a Republican candidate for the Legislative Council in District 2.
Iâve had the great opportunity to live in Newtown for much of my life, having moved here in the summer of 1998. I received an excellent education at Newtown High School and continued college in Washington, D.C. Iâve come back to Newtown to make it an even better place to live, and I feel that I have the right credentials to do so.
Over the past month Iâve had the opportunity to speak with many citizens about the state of our town and the challenges we face for the future. I have heard unique ways to improve our beloved community and have brainstormed with others to discover ways to move forward.
I am running for this elected position in town because I feel that too often the rhetoric and bickering that have occurred among our elected officials are not only unwarranted but more importantly, not helpful in solving our shared challenges. Though it is important to analyze our past decisions to improve the future, we should not allow our differences to take us away from where our efforts should truly lie.
We can accomplish great things in Newtown, but we can only do so if those at the bargaining table agree to sit down and look at Newtownâs future with an open mind. The past ways of doing things may not be the best way forward. The common theme for Newtown needs to be US, not ME. Too often in the past some of our elected officials have forgotten this and they might just need a fresh perspective to remind them of the importance of working towards a common goal.
I believe my youth and energy will bring a new perspective to the table. Coupled with my experience in an international consulting firm and my educational background, I can help provide meaningful solutions for our problems. I plan to learn as much as possible in order to improve our great town. Your thoughts and suggestions provide me that opportunity.
I hope to meet many of you this fall as the election grows closer. If you are interested in seeing some of the ideas I have, please visit my website at www.chooselarocque.com. More importantly, I hope you give me a call to say hello.
I thank you for your consideration in having the pleasure and privilege of serving you as a Legislative Councilman.
