Master Chorale Preparing For New Season
Master Chorale Preparing For New Season
The Connecticut Master Chorale, under the direction of Tina Johns Heidrich, is holding auditions for its upcoming concert season.
CMC is an ensemble of 55 vocalists based in western Connecticut. In addition to its regular three-concert season, the chorale has performed at the White House, Carnegie Hall three times, Lincoln Center, Madison Square Garden and West Point Military Academy, all by invitation.
The Chorale will present its annual Holiday Prelude Concert in November at St Mary Church in Bethel. This concert will feature festive selections including music with steel drums and brass ensemble.
In March, the Chorale will reprise John Rutterâs Magnificat, which was the centerpiece of their inaugural concert in November 1999. The Chorale then sang it, by invitation, at Carnegie Hall on Easter 2002 under Rutterâs direction.
Also on the program will be âGreat Hymns of Praiseâ by Mack Wilberg, music director and principal arranger of The Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
The May concert, âAround the World in 80 Minutes,â will be a musical journey through 16 countries beginning and ending in America.
The March and May concerts will both be performed at St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown and accompanied by the Connecticut Master Chorale Orchestra.
Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings in Southbury and have begun for the season.
