Highstead To Present Birds Of Prey Art Exhibition;
Live Falconry Demo, September 12
REDDING â On Saturday, September 12, Highstead Arboretum will host for an artistâs discussion on the exhibition âBirds of Prey of the Eastern United States.â Following the program, Master Falconer Chris Davis will offer a program about the natural history of raptors and their conservation and offer a live demonstration of these birds in action.
âBirds of Prey of the Eastern United Statesâ will be on view at Highstead from September 12 through October 30. Artists from the Greater New York Chapter of The Guild of Natural Science Illustrators will have their work on view, and on opening day they will be available to discuss that work and share experiences that inspired the illustrations. The artistsâ portion of the day will rum from 10:30 until noon. The exhibition will remain open until 4 pm, and can then be viewed weekdays between 9 am and 4 pm.
Light refreshments will be served between noon and 1, and then Mr Davis will offer his program at 1 pm. A master falconer, breeder and the founder and director of New England Falconry, Mr Davis is the first master falconer permitted in this country to offer hands-on falconry education.
