Rockwell

Member Of Historic Hawleyville Family

Halcyon “Rocky” Rockwell, 82, of Marstons Mills, Mass., died August 23, after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Beatrice (Morrison) Rockwell. Mr Rockwell was born in Hawleyville, son of Elizabeth (Carl) and Stephen Rockwell, and was the owner of Rocky’s Paint Spot in Brookfield for many years.

He is survived by a daughter; three sisters and a brother, all formerly of Hawleyville; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a stepson.

Mr Rockwell served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater, was a post commander for VFW Post 149, Danbury, and more recently, was on the board of directors for VFW Post 2578, Hyannis, Mass. He was a volunteer firefighter for many years in Newtown and Brookfield, and was also an EMT for the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department.

He was president of the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce from 1969 to 1972, a member of the Brookfield Exchange Club, and had been a member of the Brookfield Lions Club.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 11, in the Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division Street, Danbury, at 11 am. Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to West Parish of Barnstable, Memorial Fund, PO Box 219 , West Barnstable MA 02668.
