September 11-November 4: 'Community Unity' To Be Presented At AIR Gallery At Avance
The AIR Gallery at Avance Day Spa will host “Community Unity,” an autumn exhibition and Newtown Fund Halloween Benefit.
Artists featured in the fall show are Elaine Dibiase, Elizabeth Gaynor, Alice Hayes, Supriya Hermenze, Ingrid McCullough, and Clarice Shirvell.
Hosted by AIR Gallery Curator Rosemary Rau and Avance Day Spa Owner Melanie Allen, the show’s reception will be a celebration of “creativity on canvas,” according to Ms Rau. It will also be “a salute to the nature of art in all its glorious colors and forms,” Ms Rau added.
A brunch-style reception will be held Sunday, September 23, from 11 am to 2 pm. The reception will also serve as a fundraiser for The Newtown Fund.
In addition to the works of art that will remain on view until November, the reception will serve as the 2018 season debut of Halloween Boo Boxes. Hand crafted and filled with treats and novelties, each Boo Box is Halloween fun for children and adults alike.
Prices range from $8 to $20 per box. All proceeds from Boo Box sales will benefit The Newtown Fund. Established in 1959, the fund offers assistance to Newtown residents in need by helping pay for food, fuel assistance, utility bills, rent, and medical expenses, in addition to a noteworthy Holiday Basket program in December.
Avance Day Spa is within The Village at Lexington Gardens, 32 Church Hill Road in Newtown.
In addition to the reception, visitors are welcome to visit the AIG Gallery during regular spa hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11 am to 8 pm; Wednesdays, 10 am to 6 pm; Fridays, 9 am to 6 pm; and Saturdays, 9 am to 5 pm.
The spa is handicapped friendly. Call 203-270-8911 for additional information.
