Police Reports, August 27-September 10, 2015
Multiple Break-Ins
Police said that on the afternoon of Saturday, September 5, they received a report that forced entries had been made into five locked motor vehicles that were parked at Dickinson Park at 50 Elm Drive.
The drivers of those five vehicles were involved in activities at the park at the time of the incident.
Police said that after breaking windows on the five vehicles, the unknown thief or thieves stole wallets, purses, and pocketbooks which had been left inside the autos. There were no injuries in connection with the incident, police said.
Police said they later recovered the stolen items, from which an unspecified amount of cash had been taken.
Police are investigating the thefts and ask anyone with knowledge of the crime to contact Officer Matthew Pirhala at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.
DUI Arrest
At about 4:51 pm on September 2, police received a complaint about a box truck that was being driven erratically, so they responded to find the vehicle in question.
Police said they stopped a commercial 2012 Ford F-Series Super-Duty box truck which was being used to transport a cargo of alcohol.
After investigating, police arrested truck driver Arnold Castracane, 37, of West Haven on charges of driving under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane.
After processing, police released Castracane on $100 bail for a September 16 arraignment on the charges in Danbury Superior Court.
Acura Vs Tree
Police report that at about 2 am on September 5, motorist Ismael Acevedo, 19, of Monroe was driving a 2014 Acura ILX sedan carrying two passengers westward on Berkshire Road and was approaching its intersection with Old Mill Road, when while negotiating a curve in the road, the Acura went off the left road shoulder and struck a tree.
There were no injuries. Acevedo received an infraction for making a restricted turn, police said.
Illegal Dumping
Police report that on August 27, they received a complaint about the presence of dumped debris along Winter Ridge Road. Winter Ridge Road is a residential dead-end street that extends from Horseshoe Ridge Road.
Police found a large pile of used roofing materials, including shingles, wood, and aluminum trim, among other debris, lying along the roadside.
On September 1, police received a complaint from a resident of the Farm Field Ridge Road/Black Bridge Road area concerning a similar dumping incident which had occurred there.

Car Vs Truck
At about 4:54 pm on August 27, motorist Marcus Amaral, 77, of 3 Appleblossom Lane, who was driving a 2006 Subaru Impreza station wagon, attempted to make a left turn from Appleblossom Lane onto northbound South Main Street, according to police.
At that time, Gerber Arriaza, 33, of Bridgeport was driving a commercial 1999 Mitsubishi box truck on South Main street, police said.
The two vehicles collided, There were no injuries. Police report they issued Amaral a written warning for failure to obey a stop sign.
Botsford Crash
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the busy intersection of South Main Street, Meadowbrook Road, and Botsford Hill Road about 7 pm on September 1. Both vehicles were on South Main Street when the accident occurred.
As motorist Todd Oberdick, 44, of Monroe, who was driving a 2008 Hummer SUV, was waiting at a red traffic signal, the Hummer was struck from behind by motorist Maalika Evans, 39, of The Bronx, N.Y., police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Evans a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Evading Responsibility
At about 9 pm on September 2, police received a call reporting a collision had occurred on a driveway at a residential property on Prospect Drive.
An unknown vehicle, which may be an older-model Jeep Cherokee SUV which now has a shattered tail lamp, apparently had backed into the driveway, damaging an unoccupied 2004 Dodge pickup truck that was parked there, police said.
The offending vehicle than fled the scene. Police ask anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact Officer Adam James at the police station at 203-426-5841.
Three Charges
At about 10 pm on August 27, police stopped motorist Sean Gill, 23, of 19 Pine Street on Wasserman Way to investigate a motor vehicle violation, police report.
Police said they charged Gill with driving with unsafe tires, driving with a suspended license, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Gill was released on $100 bail for a September 9 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court, police said.
Motorcycle Accident
Police said that motorcyclist Charles Feyk, 59, of Trumbull was riding a 2002 Honda GL-1800 southward on South Main Street toward its intersection with Huntingtown Road, with passenger Elizabeth Feyk, 59, onboard, at about 1 pm on August 30.
At that time, motorist Michelle Haley, 25, of 3 Melody Lane, who was driving a 2015 Honda Pilot SUV, pulled onto South Main Street from its intersection with Huntingtown Road, police said.
The Pilot then stopped on South Main Street, after which Charles Feyk intentionally brought the motorcycle down to the ground, resulting in the motorcycle skidding southward, police said.
Charles and Elizabeth Feyk were transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Haley received an infraction for failure to grant the right of way, police said.
Berkshire Road
Police report that when westbound traffic stopped moving near 33 Berkshire Road about noon on September 8, motorist Eric Egdahl, 29, of 33 Fawnwood Road, who was driving a 2004 Honda Accord sedan, struck the rear end of a 2014 Toyota Camry sedan driven by Manual M. Cabral, Sr, 72, of Derby.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Egdahl an infraction for following too closely and for distracted driving.
Three Violations
Police report that motorist Luis Cepeda, 27, of Danbury failed to obey a police signal to stop on South Main Street near Ethan Allen Road on the night of September 2.
Police said that after investigating, they charged him with failure to obey a police signal to stop, driving with a suspended license, and possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana.
After processing the case, police released Cepeda on $100 bail for a September 16 court appearance.
Two Charges
Police said that on September 6, they investigated a situation near the intersection of South Main Street and Mile Hill Road and then charged motorist Ricardo Martinez, 47, of Bridgeport with driving without a license and with driving while under suspension.
Police released Martinez on $500 bail for a September 22 court appearance.
