Grateful For Hospital Care
Grateful For Hospital Care
To the Editor:
If you feel that people have become hardened in this new millennium, with instant everything, from 24-hour news, violence in our streets, cell phones, road rage, and a general decline in what used to be called concern, or compassionâ¦maybe you need a hospital visit!
Recently I was in Danbury Hospital for three whole weeks, during which time I had back surgery. I came to the hospital in an ambulance from Newtown staffed by a crew who did everything to keep me comfortable, considering my extreme pain. I was in terrible pain and could only lie on my back; I required surgery for a shattered spinal disc.
During my stay, I saw many people who worked at the hospital, from the cleaning staff, food providers, nurses aids, nurses, physicians assistants, and doctors. All of these people worked together to help me. How could I be so fortunate?
How is it that there were nurses even at 3 am? There was always someone, just outside the doorâ¦within reach, should I need them. People who were concerned about my well-being. I never felt alone or uncared for.
We are fortunate to have all these caring people available for all of us who share Danbury Hospital. These are our caregivers and our life-savers. They are always there no matter what! They canât afford to have âbad daysâ; they have lives to save, and healing work to do.
We should be very grateful that we have people like this living here among us. God Bless all of the staff of Danbury Hospital.
