Rotarians Learn About Complexities Of English
Dr Nara Venditti talked to Newtown Rotarians recently on her work helping foreign nationals and immigrants to succeed in the United States. Many immigrants arrive in the United States speaking English and then they discover that there is an American English because of the many colloquialisms used in everyday conversation.
Dr Venditti gave an example of an immigrant engineer who was discussing some changes in machinery and could not understand the reference to not being able to get full production out of the machine until âthey ironed out the bugs.â
Dr Venditti is the president and founder of Succeed in America and over the last 20 years has held positions ranging from educator to in-house international assignment consultant. Author of 59 published works, Dr Venditti is a third-generation educator and is recognized for her work helping people from other countries understand the American culture and language.
Because of her knowledge, background, and experience she has worked with executives throughout the world involved with multicultural counterparts and clients. Â
