Larceny Charges
Police said they charged a Waterbury man with six individual larceny counts on September 7.
Police said they charged Jeffrey Singleton, 37, with one count of fourth-degree larceny and five counts of sixth-degree larceny on warrants at the police station.
The charges stem from Singletonâs alleged theft of money late last year at Charter Communications on Commerce Road, where he was formerly employed, police said. Fourth-degree larceny involves the theft of between $500 and $1,000. Sixth-degree larceny involves the theft of less than $250.
After processing, police released Singleton on a promise to appear September 18 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.
Main Street DUI
Police report that while on patrol about 1 am September 8, they observed motorist Xavier Sullivan, 22, of Brookfield turn left from eastbound Sugar Street onto northbound Main Street while the traffic signal at that intersection was red.
Police said they stopped Sullivan and noticed the smell of alcohol on his breath, after which they gave him field sobriety tests, which he failed.
Police charged Sullivan with driving under the influence and failure to obey a traffic control signal.
After processing, police released Sullivan on an $80 bond for a September 20 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Tire Fails
State police report that motorist Margaret Mathews, 62, of Gales Ferry, was driving a 1996 Dodge van in the right lane of eastbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 10, about 8:15 pm September 9, when the right rear tire blew out, and the van went out of control and rolled over.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Mathews to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, state police said. There was no enforcement action.
Narragansett Trail DUI
Police report that while on patrol about 12:45 am September 9, they spotted a Saab automobile traveling near the center of the road on Philo Curtis Road in Sandy Hook. Later, when the Saab turned right onto Narragansett Trail, a turn signal was not used, police said.
Police said they stopped the Saab and investigated, charging its driver Daniel A. Wilhelmy, 37, of 72 Edge Lake Drive, Sandy Hook, with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, and failure to use turn signals.
After processing, police released Wilhelmy on a $100 bond for a September 25 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Wrong Way Crash
State police report that motorist Luis Suqui, 21, of Meriden was driving a 1989 Toyota Camry westbound on the eastbound side of Interstate 84 between Exits 9 and 8 about 4:30 am September 9, when the Toyota crashed head-on into an eastbound tractor-trailer truck driven by Winston Haughton, 51, of Philadelphia.
At the time, Lennie Haughton, 41, and Erica Haughton, 5, both of Philadelphia, were in the sleeper unit of the tractor, state police said.
State police said the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps went to the accident scene to transport patients to Danbury Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The crash is under investigation, state police said.

Garden Statue Stolen
Police said they received a report September 10 from Booth Library at 25 Main Street that someone during the preceding weekend had stolen a piece of garden statuary from the library grounds.
The item taken is a concrete statue of a boy reading a book, which was on display at the libraryâs terrace. The item is valued at $100. Police are investigating.

Reckless/Evading
State police report that motorist Russell Brewer, 65, of Vails Gate, NY, was driving a 1998 Winnebago camper on the Exit 11 on-ramp of eastbound Interstate 84 about 10 am September 5, when eastbound motorist Dana L. Brucker, 33, of Kingston, NY, who was driving a 2001 Ford Taurus, changed lanes in front of Winnebago and struck the Winnebago in doing so.
 State police said Brucker did not stop after he hit the Winnebago, but was eventually apprehended at Exit 23 in Waterbury. There were no injuries.
State police charged Brucker with reckless driving and evading responsibility.
Burglary/Larceny
Police report they learned of a third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny which occurred at a Lakeview Terrace residence in the Cedarhurst section of Sandy Hook some time between 7 am and 4 pm on September 6. Someone forcibly entered the house by prying open a window and stole more than $3,000 worth of items, police said.
Police ask anyone with information about the crime to contact them.
Truck Vs Bridge
Tractor-trailer truck driver Ibrahim Badarou, 35, of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, was driving a 1999 truck westbound on Church Hill Road about 8:22 am September 10, when the truckâs trailer became wedged beneath the Housatonic Railroad bridge near Wire Road, police said.
A local wrecking company released the trapped trailer. The stuck truck generated traffic backups during rush hour, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Badarou an infraction ticket on a charge of violating low-clearance underpass warning signs.
