Trailer Hits Honda Civic

Newtown Police report on August 20 at 9:31 am Stefon Stackhouse, 35, of Middletown, operating a 2022 International LT625 was traveling west on Church Hill Road and attempted to make a left turn into the parking lot at 66 Church Hill Road. Nicholas Fortes, 34, of Croton, N.Y., operating a 2009 Honda Civic with a passenger was stopped in traffic behind a disabled vehicle. As Stackhouse turned into the lot, the trailer struck the left rear pillar of the Civic causing the rear window to break.

No injuries were reported, neither vehicle was towed. No enforcement was taken.

Ram Rams Audi

Newtown Police report on August 20, 3 pm, Mark Millar, 71, of Peaks Island, Maine, operating a 2018 Audi Q5 was traveling north on South Main Street with passenger Victoria Millar-Tyler, 69, also of Peaks Island, Maine, waiting for southbound traffic to clear to turn left onto Country Club Road. Ruben Rodriguez, 69, of Naugatuck, operating a 2018 Ram 1500 Laramie was traveling behind Millar. Rodriguez failed to stop in time and made contact with the rear bumper of the Audi.

No injuries were reported by Rodriguez. Millar and Millar-Tyler complained of neck pain, but denied medical attention.

Neither vehicle was towed and Rodriguez was issued an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Multi-Vehicle Crash

Newtown Police report on August 23 at 3:27 pm that Carmen Oquendo-Cifuentes, 51, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2003 Toyota Corolla, was traveling north bound on South Main Street in the straight lane. Danielle Carolyn Merrill, 21, of Naugatuck, operating a 2017 Nissan Rogue, stopped southbound in the left turn lane of South Main Street just prior to the intersection with Country Club Road. Oquendo-Cifuentes’s vehicle turned in front of Merrill’s and then proceeded into the southbound lane in the path of Mykola Solonskyi, 57, of Monroe, operating a 2024 Mini Cooper. Solonskyi’s vehicle struck Oquendo-Cifuentes’s vehicle, which sent Solonskyi’s vehicle into Joseph Masso, 40, of New Milford, operating a 2024 Chevrolet Equinox, that was stopped southbound on South Main Street just after the intersection with Country Club Road.

Both occupants of Oquendo-Cifuentes’s vehicle, as well as both passengers of Solonskyi’s vehicle, were transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment.

Oquendo-Cifuentes received an infraction for failure to grant right-of-way.

Unidentified Driver Strikes Vehicle, Flees Scene

Newtown Police report that on August 23 at 5:02 pm an unknown driver was backing out of a parking space at Plaza South, South Main Street, and turned wide into parking space directly next to it as Orlando Soto, 61, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2008 Toyota Camry, was pulling in. The unknown driver struck Soto’s vehicle and fled from the scene. Security camera from outside Brand Cigars smoke shop, 226 South Main Street D-5, captured the incident, but due to the angle and low resolution, the registration plate from the vehicle operated by the unknown driver is illegible.

The vehicle is identified by the security camera footage as an older model red Subaru four-door sedan.

If identified, the unknown driver will be charged with evading responsibility, property damage.

Loud Music Complaint, Underage Drinking At House Party

Newtown Police report on August 24 at 11:26 pm that officers were dispatched to a house on Bradley Lane for a complaint of loud music. Officer’s investigation revealed a house party with underage drinking.

Misdemeanor Summons MC 788761 was issued to Michael Quesenberry, 56, of Newtown, for violation of permitting a minor to possess liquor and failure to halt possession. Quesenberry was given a court date of September 10 at 9:30 am at

Danbury Superior Court.

Lost Glasses

Newtown Police report that they are in possession of a pair of eye glasses that were found in the Parmalee Hill Road area on August 27 at 2:18 pm. The glasses have a gold metal frame and were in a black box with “Flexon” on it.

Following Too Close

Newtown Police report on August 28 at 9:36 pm that Arianna Marie Kerrigan, 21, of Hamden, operating a 2007 Jeep Wrangler, saw a green light and proceeded to travel down Berkshire Road and rear-ended Ming Sun, 61, of New Fairfield, operating a 2022 Tesla Model Y, as they were stopped at a red light.

No injuries were reported, and neither vehicle was towed.

Kerrigan was verbally warned for following too closely resulting in a MVA.

Hit And Run Charge

Newtown Police report that at 6:43 pm August 29, officers were dispatched to the area of Brushy Hill Road on a report that a black Jeep had struck a telephone pole but then left the scene. The vehicle was located on Cedar Hill Road along with the owner/operator, Christian Morlock, 25, of Newtown.

Upon investigation, officers determined that Morlock was operating under the influence of alcohol when his vehicle struck the pole and then Morlock drove home without reporting the crash.

Morlock was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, evading responsibility for injury or property damage, and making an improper turn. He was released on a $1,000 bond with a court date of September 12 at Danbury Superior Court.

Escape From Custody Charge

Newtown Police report Hunter Spiegel, 30, of Bristol, was arrested at 10:30 pm August 29 on the charges of interfering with an officer/resisting arrest, escape from custody, disorderly conduct, and second-degree threatening — physical threat. She was released with a court date of August 30 in Danbury Superior Court.

Child Porn Possession Charges

Newtown Police report Gary Buzzanca, 64, of Newtown, was arrested at 1:02 pm August 30 on the charges of 11 counts of possession of child porn, 50-plus counts. He was held on a $100,000 bond with a court date of September 17 in Danbury Superior Court.

Collision In Intersection

Newtown Police report Jeffrey Smith, 34, of Southbury, operating a 2004 Honda Element, was traveling eastbound on Church Hill Road at 3:43 pm August 30. Percy Pelletier, 74, of Waterbury, operating a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan, was traveling westbound on Church Hill Road. Smith turned left at the intersection with Glen Road and struck Pelletier’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported. Pelletier’s vehicle was towed.

Smith received an infraction for failure to grant right of way while turning left.

Incident In Parking Lot

Newtown Police report Jaclyn Krikorian, 63, of Newtown, operating a 2017 Buick Enclave, was parked in a spot in the parking lot of 87 South Main Street at 4 pm August 30. Alexander Taylor, 30, of Manchester, operating a 2016 Honda CR-V, was traveling westbound in the same lot. Krikorian backed out from the parking space and struck Taylor’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.

No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.

Hit Car Making U-Turn

Newtown Police report Stephen Naughton, 45, of Fairfax, Ga., operating a 2015 Hyundai Sonata, made a U-turn on Mt Pleasant Road near Tory Lane at 10:32 pm August 30. His vehicle struck a 2014 Toyota Corolla operated by Derrick Carter, 39, of Danbury, who was traveling westbound on Mt Pleasant Road.

No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.

Naughton was issued an infraction for making an improper turn.

Accident At Gas Station

Newtown Police report on August 31 at 1:42 pm Luis Lopez-Vasquez, 61, of Danbury, was operating a 2005 Chrysler 300 Touring at 26 Hawleyville Road. Backing out of a parking space, Lopez-Vazquez backed into the left rear quarter of a 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan operated by Katelyn Bolduc, 41, of Dresden, Maine. The incident caused minor damage to the Volkswagen.

No injuries were reported, neither vehicle was towed. No enforcement was issued.

Trespassing At Fairfield Hills

Newtown Police report on September 1, 10:49 pm, Antonio Wilfredo Dejesus, 25, of Madison, was located behind the Kent House on the Fairfield Hills campus crossing the fence line with a sawzall. Dejesus stated he was an “urban explorer” and brought the saw to cut the fence, but it was already cut.

Dejesus was issued an infraction for simple trespass.
