Schools Are At A Tipping Point
Schools Are At A Tipping Point
To the Editor:
I am honored to have been nominated by the Independent Party of Newtown as a candidate for the Board of Education. I have worked in the field of education for over 20 years and have served in a variety of capacities both professionally and as a volunteer on behalf of multiple school districts in the tri-state area. In addition, I have been a member of the executive board at the Childrenâs Adventure Center for ten years. I am also a doctoral student in instructional leadership and hold administrative and teaching certificates in the state of Connecticut.
I hope to have the opportunity to use my professional skills to strengthen the Newtown Public Schools specifically in the areas of transparency and communication. An excellent school system is the reflection of the community and I believe our schools are at a tipping point. I hope to use my professional experience and expertise to ask questions and seek answers as we seek to create a more cohesive, unified school system which is responsive to the needs and concerns of the community it serves.
I look forward to engaging in discussion by answering any questions or listening to concerns. I am able to be reached via e-mail at laurafmain@gmail.com.
Respectfully,
Laura F. Main
