Ruth Hall Wells, 85, Grace Meadows in Southbury and formerly of Sandy Hook, died August 24, at Danbury Hospital. She was born in Norwalk, March 11, 1926, to Mabel and Clifford Hall.
Ms Wells worked at the original Pepperidge Farms, on Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk, until her marriage to her first husband, the late William Kuban, father of her children.
With her marriage to Raymond Westover, she moved to Sandy Hook, where she lived for many years. Upon his death, she moved to Pennsylvania, where she later married Bernard Wells, from whom she later divorced.
Ms Wells was a talented craftsperson, known for her dolls and stuffed animals. Until her eyesight failed, she spent her time knitting and embroidering.
A son, William D. Kuban of Sandy Hook, and a daughter, Deborah Montgomery of Oregon, survive Ms Wells. A sister, Marie Johnson of Newtown; two brothers, Clifford Hall of Ridgefield and Richard Hall of Bethel; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and 11 nieces and nephews also survive her. Besides her parents and former husbands, she was predeceased by a grandson, Robert Kuban.
Funeral arrangements were private.
