NSA Planning 5th Annual
Harvest Wine Tasting
Newtown Scholarship Association (NSA) will host its 5th Annual Harvest Wine Tasting on Saturday, October 15. The fundraiser will run from 4 to 7 pm at Sticks and Stones Farm, 201 Huntingtown Road, home of master stone mason Tim Currier and Annie Stiefel.
Sponsored by Peopleâs United Bank, there will be samples of over 50 wines from around the world, provided once again by Sandy Hook Wine & Liquor. Passed hors dâoeuvres will be served, and there will be a live and silent auction, live music and a raffle.
Proceeds from the event will benefit NSA, which provides financial assistance to college bound high school graduates from Newtown. Last year alone, NSA awarded scholarships and continuing aid totaling nearly $200,000. Since its founding, the NSA has awarded over $3 million in scholarships, enabling hundreds of students to fulfill their dreams of a higher education.
Sticks and Stones Farm, known by its landmark stone barn, is a 60 acre working farm located in the heart of Newtown. Mr Currier describes the farm as a âpiece of Maine â in Connecticut.â For more than 30 years, the farm has produced a unique harvest of environmentally friendly moss and stone. Wine tasting attendees will have the opportunity to visit one of Newtownâs special places while supporting one of our townâs most worthy causes.
Tickets are $35.00 each and can be purchased at Sandy Hook Wine & Liquor, or by calling 203-426-7713. Additional information is also available online, at NewtownScholarship.org.
