Appreciation For Leadership, Caring Concern
Appreciation For Leadership,
Caring Concern
To the Editor:
I have lived in Newtown since 1976 and have been through several serious storms which severely impacted our town. The period following Hurricane Irene was made less stressful by the constant and calming communications of our first selectperson. The daily updates and the reports on her attempts to deal with CL&P to obtain a schedule of work, the information on areas where CL&P crews were concentrating, the numbers of electrical and tree service crews on the job, the reminders of where to obtain water and ice and her sincere concern for the welfare of Newtowners was extraordinary. It was clear that she shared our outrage and frustration at the lack of information from CL&P. The most recent call indicated her intent to conduct a full debriefing with CL&P to determine how the response could have been improved and an evaluation with the emergency response team and office staff to on the response to this, hopefully unique, event.
We could not have asked for a greater commitment to our town and to its citizens than we have received from Pat Llodra during this trying time.
We owe her a sincere thank you and appreciation for her leadership and caring concern.
