Prostate Cancer Health Forum

NEW MILFORD — Urologist Stephen Yu, MD, and radiation oncologist Joseph Bargellini, MD, will present “Straight Answers About Prostate Testing & Treatment” on Tuesday, September 20, from 6:45 to 8:30 in the New Milford Hospital Robison Conference Rooms.

Prostate cancer is treatable and curable, but early detection is a critical success factor. The health program with Dr Yu outlines the signs and symptoms for prostate cancer, the most common form of cancer for men in America and their second leading cause of death.

Dr Yu stresses the importance of yearly screenings for men 50 years of age and older (45 years of age for men at higher risk). He also provides information on risk factors, such as age, diet, family history, nationality, and race.

Dr Bargellini, medical director of radiation oncology at the New Milford Hospital-New York-Presbyterian Regional Cancer Center, then will discuss the many options and factors to take into account before choosing a course of treatment. He will explain sate-of-the-art treatments available, including external beam, IMRT, brachytherapy, hormonal, and chemotherapy.
