Master Gardener Classes Offered

The University of Connecticut Cooperative Extension system is now accepting applications for the Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Program for 2006. The objective of the program is to provide horticultural training to individuals who have an interest and want to expand their current information base and share this knowledge with the public through community volunteerism.

Classes start in early January and consist of 14 class sessions (one full day per week) and 60 hours of volunteer service, with a minimum of 30 hours spent in a Cooperative Extension Center during business hours. There is a cost for the course, which includes a comprehensive manual.

Enrollment is limited and competitive. Classes will be held in North Haven, Norwich, Stamford, Torrington, and Vernon. Applications must be completed and returned, post marked by Friday, October 21. For more information or an application, call Sandra Wilson at 207-3261.
